- The house U tax did NOT come up in subcommittee today.
- Fox Business News is doing a national story tonight on the uranium issue in Virginia. SELC Cale Jaffe will be on opposite of Patrick Wales. Jaffe will be in a studio here in Charlottesville; Patrick will be in Richmond. The segment will be 5 to 6 minutes long, and will be on live TV starting at 5:30pm ET. (Do do expect Fox to be Kind to Cale, they are Koch Brothers pushers, energy pushers at all cost)
Comments: The story and link below mention Dr. Lillias Jarding. In February of 2008 Dr Jarding issued a report on the Coles Hill project. You may find it od interest. It is attached to this e-mail.

Bottom line: Uranium mining isn't safe
I commend the ministers of the Roanoke Valley and Southside Virginia who have spoken out against lifting the ban on uranium mining ("Ministers against uranium mining," Jan. 5 news story).
This should not be a political issue. It is about Virginia residents' health and our environment, which would be at great risk if this ban were lifted.
As was stated in your story, there are too many unanswered questions about the safety of uranium mining and the storing of the radioactive material it leaves behind.
Patrick Wales of Virginia Uranium asks, "What is all the fuss about developing regulations?"
The fuss is the governor already has spent nearly $1million on a task force just to look into the possibility of uranium mining.
This is for something that isn't even legal to do in our state, and now we want to spend more money on it?
The bottom line is it doesn't matter how many regulations are created, uranium mining and milling are not safe to do in our state.
Let your representatives know you are against lifting the ban and spending any more money on creating regulations for uranium mining.

Comments: The undecideds are starting to lean our way. All the calls are working. If you haven't called all the undecideds then please call today. If you've already called then ask your family, neighbors and co-workers to call. Many of the undecideds have told us they are keeping count of our calls so at the end of the day it might be the side that calls the most who wins.Undecideds URGENT to call NOW! The following 7 Senators have been identified as crucial votes on the first committees to hear the uranium bill. If everyone calls these Senators to ask them to oppose uranium mining then we might be able to kill the bill in committee. Please call the Senators and ask to speak to their aide. Tell the aide that you would like the Senator to vote to oppose uranium mining and give them the name of your city, town or county. Then ask if the Senator has a position. If you find out that the Senator has taken a firm decision then report that information to fcm@gamewood.net Please ask your family, friends and network to call these Senators:
