A new study by the Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League raises health questions about the site being prone to flooding.
Ann Rogers, with the Environmental Defense League says the study takes a closer look at the history of flooding and the potential for flooding at the site.
What the group found was several flooding events that have happened on the property, as well as three flood zones that have been designated by FEMA.
"It is fairly well known that water and uranium spells trouble," said Rogers.
Rogers says the concern is floodwaters may be at risk for becoming contaminated with radioactive material from the mining.
"I think it is important for people to realize the dangers," said Rogers.
