In an effort to help Virginians save energy, money and protect the environment, Virginia will be promoting the annual ENERGY STAR Sales Tax Holiday from Friday, October 7, 2011 through Monday, October 10, 2011. Consumers can visit their local retailer and save both state and local sales tax on ENERGY STAR qualified products that cost $2500 or less and are made for non-commercial and personal use.The Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy is encouraging consumers to choose ENERGY STAR qualified and WaterSense products during the sales tax holiday. The ENERGY STAR qualification means that these products meet strict energy efficiency criteria set by the U.S. Department of Energy and U. S. Environmental Protection Agency.
