The Roanoke River Basin Association, with support from Appalachian Voices and Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, will hold a town hall meeting for citizens and community leaders regarding the Dan River coal ash spill and the impacts to the Roanoke River Basin and Kerr Lake.

WHEN: Thursday, April 24, 6-8 pm
WHERE: H. Leslie Perry Library
               205 Breckenridge St.
               Henderson, NC

The purpose of the meeting is to give residents and property owners an opportunity to meet and share their concerns, and to facilitate formation of a coalition of citizens and grassroots civic and environmental organizations. The aim would be first to compel Duke Energy to expeditiously clean up the Dan River and Kerr Lake, and second to compel Duke to clean up all of its 33 coal ash sites around North Carolina.

Representatives from the Appalachian Voices, Southern Environmental Law Centers, Roanoke River Basin Association will be presenting information.  Concerned citizens are encouraged to participate in discussions.
