Duke Energy appeals judge's order in coal-ash pollution case



Unbelievable! A NC judge recently ruled that state regulators have the legal authority and duty to immediately require Duke Energy to clean up unsafe coal ash ponds. It was no surprise that Duke Energy appealed this ruling last week. But last night came news that state regulators are ALSO appealing the judge’s ruling. This administration finally has clear legal authority to clean up coal ash, and now says it doesn't want it!


NC judge denies Duke motion to seal coal ash docs
A North Carolina judge on Friday denied Duke Energy's motion seeking to shield records related to groundwater pollution leaching from 33 coal ash dumps in the state while a separate federal criminal investigation is ongoing.
