Talvivaara Mining Co expects no material financial impact on its results from the the Supreme Administrative Court to return a uranium extraction permit to the Finnish government for reassessment. But Talvivaara says its aims to start uranium extraction as a by-product during the summer and autumn of 2014 are likely to be delayed. Talvivaara also says it does not expect the decision to have an impact on the corporate reorganisation proceedings of the company, nor on the potential corporate reorganisation proceedings of Talvivaara Sotkamo Ltd. Chief executive Pekka Perä said: "The company has aimed at gradually commencing uranium extraction as a by-product during the summer and autumn of 2014, subject to all necessary permits having been obtained by then. - See more at:

Agricultural Chemicals, Inc. is laying off 350 employees in the next year, according to a 2013 state of Florida worker adjustment and retraining notice update Wednesday. The WARN notice said the company, also known as PCS Phosphate, which is a subsidiary of PotashCorp, will cut ties with those employees officially on Feb. 2 and will continue the job reductions through Dec. 31 2014.
A statement on the PotashCorp website,
www.potashcorp.com, said the White Springs job cuts are part of a larger workforce reduction for the corporation.
PotashCorp is cutting 1,045 jobs, including at company headquarters in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Other operations in New Brunswick, Canada, Trinidad and Aurora, N.C. are also undergoing job cuts. The White Springs operation is seeing the second largest workforce reductions in the PotashCorp company outside of the operations in Saskatoon, where 440 people will lose their jobs.
In a PotashCorp website video titled “a difficult announcement,” the company’s president and CEO Bill Doyle said, “The reduction will be about 18 percent from our current [workforce] levels. This was not an easy decision, but a necessary one.”

Aurora company announces layoffs during holiday season
PotashCorp Aurora has let go about 10% of their workforce
POSTED: 7:45 AM Dec 03 2013 UPDATED: 5:48 PM Dec 03 2013
AURORA, BEAUFORT COUNTY -
PCS Phosphate Company Inc. announced that it is reducing its workforce.
The Beaufort County company, also known as PotashCorp Aurora, has laid off roughly 85 people. This came three weeks before Christmas Eve.
The changes stem from a company-wide review of business and operational needs, according to a news release. Restructuring the workforce will allow the facility to operate more efficiently.
The layoffs went into effect Tuesday.
People in Aurora are fully aware of the impact the corporation has on their local economy. "We as small businesses depend on these guys coming in from PCS," said local worker Sherry Popperwill. "Right before the holiday season I think it's gonna effect the employees more than it is us. 'Cause right now, this time of year, it does slow down. We expect that, but not on top of everything else with the layoffs."
For Popperwill and many others, the workers who were laid off were good friends; people they saw every day. "I feel sorry for 'em. I mean, 'cause this is people that have been there for years," she said.
People in town, including current PotashCorp employees, told Newschannel 12 the cuts were not limited to people on the bottom of the PotashCorp totem pole. They say many of the people who were let go held management and office positions.
PotashCorp Aurora General Manager Steve Beckel said the cuts were made to "help position PotashCorp Aurora to be globally competitive for the long term."

Newmont Mining (
NYSE: NEM ) is soon to be one asset lighter. It has signed an
agreement to sell its Midas facility in Nevada to Canada-based Klondex Mines, both companies announced in separate press releases. The base price is $83 million.
Midas is an underground mine and mill complex located in the north central part of the state between the municipalities of Reno and Elko. Newmont acquired the facility through its takeover of Australia's Normandy Mining in 2002.
In addition to the $83 million sale price, Newmont is to receive 5 million warrants for Klondex common shares. These have a 15-year term, with an exercise price to be determined on the closing date.
The two companies expect the Midas deal, which is subject to approval from the relevant regulators, to close early next year.
