Last year, the Coalition raised more than $100,000 at the inaugural fundraiser at the farm of local Del. James Edmunds. The proceeds are used to support marketing, educational and lobbying efforts in the local area and in Richmond leading up to and during the past legislative session.
Virginia Uranium Inc., which is seeking to overturn the state’s longstanding mining ban, has vowed to bring the issue back before the General Assembly when it convenes in January.
Reports filed with the secretary of the commonwealth reveal that Virginia Uranium was the top spender in lobbying and gifts to Virginia legislators, spending more than $1 million to convince legislators and the governor to lift the ban.

The Virginia Coalition is a group of business leaders and job creators from Southside Virginia that are opposed to lifting the 30 year ban on uranium mining in Virginia.
