Is this the United States of Uranium?

To the editor:

Larry Aaron’s misuse and abuse of the Declaration of Independence to hawk uranium mining for Virginia Uranium, Inc. is patently vulgar.

Aaron should actually read the Declaration of Independence instead of distorting and contorting the precious document in order to promote uranium mining.

In 1776, our Founding Fathers declared that all men are created equal, gave voice to a new country, which held life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness above all else and declared that government should lay its foundation to effect safety and happiness.

The Declaration of Independence addressed the desire of individuals to divorce themselves from a tyrant, who among other things, “plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns and destroyed the lives of our people.”

This is not unlike the Keep the Ban advocates wanting to protect their homes and lives from an invasive corporation, which has tried every trick in the book to usurp our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

What did he teach? Hopefully, it wasn't American history.
