According to WBTM Radio in Danville, a local House of Delegates candidate wants to take the Uranium Mining debate to the next level, by effectively ending it.
16th District Democratic nominee Elizabeth Jones says if elected, she’ll introduce a bill to make Virginia’s uranium moratorium permanent. Jones says she is also concerned that talk of mining and milling the ore is hurting local economic development efforts.
If elected, Jones will also call for an investigation of Virginia Uranium Incorporated to find out if any damage has been done by exploratory drilling. She also wants to know what connections the company has to Virginia politicians.
