Flooding in Virginia

3"+ in downtown Lynchburg but hardly any at the Lynchburg airport. Similar situation in Roanoke yesterday...Roanoke 3"+ ..but hardly a drop in nearby Salem.

Crews with Lynchburg utilities are keeping and eye on the flooding on Wythe Rd. off Fort Avenue in Lynchburg. They say the drainage system has maxed out. Updates to come.

 There is flooding in central Virginia, the area of proposed uranium mining and milling, between flooding the mine, the tailing ponds could be washing into all the creeks nearby. All the creeks washes into the Roanoke River Basin.! Our water would be ruin from Virginia to North Carolina! KTB!
Flooding around my house, cannot see the White  Oak Mt. Range behind my house, cannot see south of my house, my driveway looks like a creek!

* THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING

* AN UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE ACROSS THE REGION FROM THE OHIO
VALLEY AND SLIDE SLOWLY TO A POSITION JUST EAST OF THE FORECAST
AREA FRIDAY. NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP IN ADVANCE OF THIS SYSTEM...MAINLY EAST OF THE ALLEGHANY
MOUNTAINS. THE AIR MASS IS EXTREMELY MOIST AND THE GROUND IS
TOTALLY SATURATED FROM RECENT HEAVY RAINFALL. RAINFALL AMOUNTS
OF AS LITTLE AS 1 INCH PER HOUR CAN RESULT IN FLASH FLOODING IN
SEVERAL AREAS OF SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL VIRGINIA AS WELL AS
NORTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA. THIS COULD EASILY OCCUR WITH STRONGER
THUNDERSTORMS THAT ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS EVENING INTO
OVERNIGHT ACROSS THE PIEDMONT.

* SHARP RISES CAN BE EXPECTED ON CREEKS AND STREAMS IN AREAS OF
STRONGER THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL. FLASH FLOODING IN
THESE AREAS WILL QUICKLY FOLLOW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
