Ahmadinejad to visit uranium-rich Niger

Niamey has recently criticised its historical agreement with France, which gets most of its uranium from the former colony, and has demanded a fairer share of the profits generated by uranium ore mining.
Niger's foreign minister visited Tehran in February.

Strong earthquake jolts western Japan island, 23 injured

Tokyo. An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 6.3 shook Awajishima island and surrounding areas in western Japan early April 13, injuring at least 23 people, Asahi Shimbun reported.
The injuries occurred in Hyogo, Osaka, Okayama, Tokushima and Fukui prefectures. No fatalities were reported, and no tsunami was generated.
Nuclear power plants were not affected, according to operators Kansai Electric Power Co. and Shikoku Electric Power Co. They include the nation's only two operating reactors, located in Fukui Prefecture.
The earthquake hit at 5:33 a.m. It measured lower 6 on Japan’s seismic intensity scale of 7 in parts of Awajishima island in Hyogo Prefecture and lower 5 in parts of Osaka, Tokushima and Kagawa prefectures
