Fairfax Water's Board of Directors passed a resolution opposing the mining of uranium mining in Virginia

RESOLUTION OF THE FAIRFAX COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY OPPOSING THE MINING OF URANIUM IN VIRGINIA

DECEMBER 13, 2012

WHEREAS,

Fairfax Water is Virginia’s largest water utility, serving one out of every five

Virginians who obtain their water from public utilities and being one of the top 25 largest water

utilities in the nation, and

WHEREAS,

Fairfax Water provides drinking water that consistently surpasses federal and state

water quality standards and, as a recognized leader in the water business, takes an active role in

protecting its drinking-water sources as part of a multiple-barrier approach to public health

protection, and

WHEREAS,

Fairfax Water regularly tracks legislative and regulatory issues in Virginia which

may impact Fairfax Water’s source water quality and water supply reliability, and the quality

and reliability of water supply sources throughout Virginia, and

WHEREAS
, Fairfax Water relies on the Potomac River and the Occoquan Reservoir as sources
