In a whirlwind haste, Gov. McDonnell called together a “stakeholder meeting” on Wednesday to “provide information about the scope of work” that the Uranium Working Group has undertaken up till now. Unfortunately for many stakeholders, the meeting was called so abruptly that some were unable to attend while some stakeholders, like the Roanoke River Basin Association (RRBA), were excluded from the meeting altogether.
When it seemed possible that the ban on uranium mining might be left in place for at least another year in the General Assembly, McDonnell hijacked the democratic process and took the decision out of the hands of the legislature and into his own.

To put the icing on the cake, McDonnell promised a transparent Uranium Working Group that would be responsive to the people of Virginia. Instead, Virginian’s have seen little transparency and a great deal of hypocrisy.
McDonnell is clearing willing and ready to lift the ban on uranium mining against the demands of the majority of Virginians. What do we know anyways?
These are not the actions of a democratic leader.
Rather, they are the actions of a man beholden to special interests and political ambition, not the welfare of Virginia.
