Comment: So the local uranium company is always saying, "Virginia needs to blow up the hills in VA because you cannot trust the Russians to continue to supply US with uranium, it is a security problem! Well, the Russians could be blowing up the hills in Virginia and shipping it to Iran or North Korea and the NRC lay down the welcome mat! So the so call local uranium company has two myths now: 1. Strict govt controls (BP Oil Rig kills 11 people, the regulators were in bed with the oil company, Coal Mine kills 29 men and Massey Coal Company....well you know) 2. Russia is a national security problem (now they can mine uranium in US) Do not believe anything the so call local uranium company is saying, they want the money and could care less about the people of Virginia!
TORONTO, Nov 24 (Reuters) - Uranium One (UUU.TO) said on Wednesday that it had received approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to proceed with its deal to sell a controlling stake in itself to a Russian state-owned miner.
The Toronto-based uranium producer said it will begin the initial closing by issuing 178 million new common shares to ARMZ, a division of Russian nuclear agency Rosatom, in exchange for $610 million in cash.
In the final stage of closing, Uranium One will acquire a 50 percent interest in the Akbastau mine and a 49.67 percent interest in the Zarechnoye mine, both located in Kazakhstan.
The company said the deal will close before the end of December.
