Uranium is the real devil

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 8:53 AM EDT

Something is wrong here.

Many of the citizens and elected leaders of Danville and Pittsylvania County are lately up in arms over people wearing their pants too low in public, or the prospects of a private adult entertainment club opening in this area, yet are increasingly tolerant of the possibility of uranium mining in our very back yard.

As a physician, I can safely say that exposure to the sight of a partially revealed derriere, or even that of a woman's breast will likely cause far less harm to our citizenry than centuries of exposure to even low levels of radiation.

The medical community has increasingly become aware of this risk as we begin to examine the cumulative adverse effects of diagnostic x-rays, CT scans and even mammograms.

Wake up citizens and leaders of Danville, Pittsylvania County and surrounding areas, and take up arms against the real devil in our midst.

If you believe adult entertainment is a cancer on our society, when it comes to radiation exposure "you ain't seen nothing yet."
