First Uranium said one worker died and three others have been injured following the collapse of a shaft at its Ezulwini mine in the West Rand.
The accident happened Tuesday morning on the mine’s 48 level, it said. Union representatives and officials from South Africa’s Department of Mineral Resources have joined management on site to investigate, the company said in a statement.
Toronto-listed First Uranium is a low-cost producer of uranium and gold.
