Comment from KM: It is already established that the NAS study will not determine if uranium mining, milling and waste storage can be done "safely" in VA.
Why officials and citizens continue to "wait for the study" to plan for the health, safety and well-being of their constituents is a ruse. VUI is not waiting for a study.
Over the past 4 years many of YOU have taken time to research the impacts of this issue. You have jobs, families, obligations...not unlike Mr. Ingram and others who are "waiting for a study". If you can do it, they can too.
If they don't, they're either lazy or have been "bought" by the industry.

The predominant local opinion about VUI’s quest to mine and mill a 119-million pound uranium deposit appears to be “Let’s wait for the study.”
But VUI has no such qualms.
“In January of 2012, we will have a bill in the state legislature that directs the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy to develop the regulations for uranium mining,” Coles told investors in a webcast.
As elections near there will be opportunity to ask candidates questions re: uranium mining. Please note the two excerpts below from local newspapers.

This quote is from the e-edition of the Star Tribune "With respect to uranium mining, Ingram believes the county should wait for the scientific and socioeconomic studies scheduled to be finished in December."

As for uranium mining, Ingram said, “We’re going to wait until the study and that’s my position and that’s the board’s position and that’s a good position to be in.” “I want the study to be clear enough so can give good answers for the well-being of Pittsylvania County,” Ingram said.
