Gretna…….Marshall Albert Ecker, age 68 of 7856
Deerview Road, Gretna died Thursday, September 26, 2013 at his residence.
Born
June 20, 1945 in Westminster, Maryland, he was a son of the late Albert Monroe
Ecker and Lillie Mae Frank Ecker.
Mr. Ecker was the Chairman of the Pittsylvania
County Board of Supervisors, representing the Staunton River District.
He was an
Army Veteran of Vietnam; and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where he
served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and mentor.
Mr. Ecker enjoyed
woodworking, blacksmithing, and was a collector of many things, especially
trains.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Ecker of the residence; one son, Jason
Ecker and wife, Lisa of Greenville, N.C.; two sisters, Janice Folsom of Kansas
City, KS, and Ann Rigg of Stafford; and two grandchildren, Bryon Ecker and Megan
Ecker.
Graveside services will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 28,
2013 at Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden by Pastor Matthew Speck with Military
Honors by the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard.
A celebration of his life
will be conducted 4:00 P.M. Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Piney Grove Baptist
Church by Pastor Matthew Speck.
The family suggests memorial contributions be
made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, 2261 Piney Grove Road, Gretna, VA 24557. The
