Uranium meetings set in Virginia


Comment:  Virginia Uranium Inc will be one of the Stakeholders, I mean they are the real stakeholder, they paid for the NAS Uranium Mining study and they get to present too!  I mean really......No to U Mining and Milling!

The Uranium Mining Subcommittee of the Virginia Coal and Energy Commission plans to meet Wednesday, Dec 6 in Richmond.

At the meeting, the committee members are expected to review and choose one of six firms to conduct a socioeconomic study on the impacts of uranium mining and milling around Coles Hill in Pittsylvania County.

The meeting begins at 2:30 p.m. in House Room D in the General Assembly building.

• On Tuesday, Dec 6, the Virginia chapter of the Sierra Club and the Martinsville-Henry County Voters League are co-hosting a community meeting about the threats of uranium mining to the region.

• On Dec. 13-15, the National Academy of Sciences’ committee conducting the scientific study on uranium mining in Virginia plans to meet in Danville.

On Dec. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., stakeholders will give presentations. From 6 to 9 p.m. that day, the public can participate in a town hall meeting. Sign-up for public comment will begin at 5 p.m. on a first come, first serve.
