To the editor:

A local lawyer from Chatham, Henry A 'Hank' Davis Jr., needs our help on Jan. 11, 2011. Davis is running for the Virginia Senate.

Let's all forget about labels whether he is a Democrat, Republican or independent — and look at what Hank stands for. He is pro-life, pro-gun, pro-business and an advocate for persons with disabilities, having personal experience dealing with a handicapped child. Davis is in favor of a redistricting plan that doesn't further split the 19th District's counties and city, and he is also in favor of changing the rate determination method to hold down electric utility rates.

Hank is opposed to the mining, milling and storage of uranium mining waste in the 19th District, the privatization of ABC stores and unfunded state mandates to local governments.

He sounds like at man that will look after the little guy.

Hank, as chairman of Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors, has worked with Danville City Council to bring jobs to this He has a long history of community service former treasurer of the Chatham Rescue Squad, president of the Chatham Lions Club, chairman of the board of Blue Ridge Christian Ministries, Boy Scout leader, little league baseball coach, member of the South Central Virginia Autism Society, he served on First Citizens Bank's Community Board of Directors, the West Piedmont Planning District committee, he's been a member of the Danville Pittsylvania Industrial Facility Authority and member of the Tri-County Relicensing Committee for Smith Mountain and Leesville lakes.

Representing us should be a walk in the park for a person with such great experience.

Hank is a person who knows our needs and values. Let's all elect someone we all know and has a great track record of helping us. I have never heard of Bill Stanley and most of you haven't either. Hank will be a great asset to the state Senate and will look after us in Richmond. Please support him; we all need him.
