Eddie Poe - A Great No Uranium Mining Fighter! We will Miss You!

Comment: A great person and a great anti uranium mining and milling in his lovely Pittsylvania County, VA. We are praying for the Eddie's family and friends!

Gretna..........William Edgar (Eddie) Poe, age 59, of 4973 Telegraph Road, Gretna died Friday, August 6, 2010 at the UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville. Born May 9, 1951 in North Carolina, he was a son of Enid Mitchell Poe of New Bern, NC and the late Clarence Edgar Poe. He was predeceased by a sister, Christine Moffitt.

Eddie was a member of Midway Baptist Church and a retired pipefitter and welder.

His great love was being outdoors, whether walking in the woods with Sue or fishing and hunting with his Georges Creek Hunting Club buddies. He enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with his faithful pal Jerry Lee.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Sue Jennings Poe of the residence; two sons, Tim Meadows and wife, Madelyn of Gretna and Mike Meadows of Gretna; one sister, Julie Poe West and husband, Carl of New Bern, NC; his mother-in-law, Mary Jennings of Gretna; and two grandchildren, Courtney Meadows and Coleman Meadows.

A memorial service will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2010 at Midway Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Lynn Marstin and Jason Andrews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to and after the service Monday at Midway Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Midway Baptist Church, Ruby Jennings Scholarship Fund, 4221 Blue Ridge Drive, Gretna, VA 24557 or to Georges Creek Hunt Club, 3092 Rockford School Road, Gretna, VA 24557.
