Hearing on Uranium Mining in Goliad County Continues

In Austin, the legal battle over uranium mining in Goliad is taking a new turn this week.

The legal battle over uranium mining in Goliad County continues as the County's legal team presents its case against the defense.

Attorney's representing Goliad County are calling witnesses to the stand this week in the state contested case.

The County claims the Uranium Energy Corporation violated the Safe Drinking Water Act in the areas where the company conducted exploration by improperly plugging its wells and leaving behind radioactive tailings in small heaps on top of the ground..

The outcome of the case will determine whether or not the UEC continues to mine in Goliad and how carefully mining operators practice their craft here in Texas.
