Comment: No to Nuke Power, No to Uranium Mining and Milling all over the world! Canadians are coming to Virginia and want to blow up our hills for uranium! The uranium corporations have Lobbyist in Richmond just giving money away to our leaders and bragging it is safe to mine uranium! The uranium groups are using France as a Nuke Strong and Virginia needs to more like France, be the leader in nuke power! France is a failure with nukes and uranium mining and is not energy independent! France is buying power from Europe and is having blackouts right now in the coldest winter in France's history!
Today’s Award: The Blind Eye 2009
For many of us, some of the electricity we use every day comes from nuclear power stations. Those reactors are fuelled with uranium.
Do you know where that uranium comes from?
Does it come from Namibia where uranium mining has made the traditional lifestyles of the Topnaar Nama people ‘impossible to maintain’.
Does it come from Caetite in Brazil where the drinking water has been contaminated with uranium?
Does it come from Australia or Canada where there native peoples’ ways of life are threatened?
Does it come from Niger whose streets where children play are contaminated with radiation?
For its silence and unwillingness to publicly acknowledge these issues, the Blind Eye award 2009 goes to the nuclear industry and its supporters.
