Comment: Today we are focusing on our families and our families and people of Japan. One of our dear Friend lost her Nephew, Alex Abele this week. Alex as you read the story below was a great person and an angel on Earth! Please pray for Alex's family!
September 22, 2009 - Texas Children's Hospital
As a patient in Texas Children’s Cancer Center, Alex Abele wanted to have a positive impact on his fellow cancer patients. So, he chose Texas Children’s Cancer Center as the focus of his Eagle Scout project because he knows first hand how many hours patients – and their siblings – spend at the center for treatments.
Most cancer patients undergo treatment for years, and Abele felt that there needed to be more items available for their enjoyment during these stays.
Abele began by sending letters to his neighbors in the Bay Forest subdivision in Clear Lake, notifying them of his plan.
Once the collection was completed, Alex and his parents presented Texas Children’s Child Life Specialist, Dana Swan, with the collected monies and toys. Over $650 in cash donations and a mini-van full of donated toys and games are now available for the kids at Texas Children’s Cancer Center.
