Additional information on our scheduled presentation from Mr. Angermeier: Project title: Spatial analysis of relations among conservation practices, aquatic ecosystem services, and human well-being in the Albemarle-Pamlico basin;
Universities involved: Virginia Tech, University of Maryland, McGill University; Sponsor: US Geological Survey; Study area: entire Albemarle-Pamlico basin (APB), including Roanoke, Tarr, Neuse, and Chowan river drainages; Overall goal of project: We will develop maps and analyses of a) the production and delivery of selected ecosystem services, b) conservation practices, and c) human wellbeing.
Our focal services are a) surface water supply, b) water purification, c) nitrogen regulation, and d) wildlife-based recreation. Our analyses will compare current conditions with plausible future conditions. We want our research products to be as informative as possible to those planning for and making decisions about freshwater resources in the APB.
Following the presentation and meeting adjournment, Mr. Angermeier would like those available and interested to stay for a feedback session.
Purpose of feedback session: a) familiarize APB stakeholders with work, b) collect information about key water issues of interest to stakeholders, and c) recruit stakeholder groups to help create future scenarios.
