The environmental group League of Conservation Voters has endorsed Democrat Hank Davis in the special election for the 19th District Senate seat, Davis’ campaign announced Friday.
According to a news release, the League of Conservation Voters made its decision primarily based on Davis’ opposition to uranium mining.
“I am the only candidate committed to preventing the moratorium on uranium mining from being lifted because it will not provide a climate for job growth,” Davis said in a statement.
Davis said the environmental and health impact on the community is not worth the risk uranium mining would bring to the area.
The special election will be held Jan. 11.
