Move to allay Rosebery worries (more info on mining problems)

MINING company MMG has pledged to look deeper into concerns landfill from the Rosebery mine may have contaminated the soil.

Consultants GHD tested 108 houses and 17 public spaces in the town to try to find answers to a toxic riddle which has divided the town over the past two years.

A group of people who claim they became sick while living in the town are taking legal action over what they say has been negligence in regard to their health concerns.

GHD took a total 720 soil, dust and surface water samples last month, and MMG said there could be a link between soil samples that triggered investigation limits and historical landfill.

At a public meeting last month, locals gave accounts of waste from the zinc mine being used as landfill at residential properties on a regular basis a few decades ago.
